painting underwater bubbles on paint tool SAI by Electrical-Socket painting underwater bubbles on paint tool SAI by Electrical-Socket
A new and updated version of my now old as balls bubble tutorial. Now with shinier bubble and section on cel shading (and magical glow!).

I hope you all have fun making bubbles, if you use my tutorial please do link me to what you made because I'd love to see it!

All feedback appreciated. :)

Here are a couple of pictures where I used these bubble-drawing methods, if you'd like to see them in context: Old Art Re-Redraw - Vaporeon Morph by Electrical-Socket Beluga Mermaid by Electrical-Socket

Aww, sorry to hear that! Which part did you struggle with on the luminosity layer? I might be able to help out. :)

With the luminosity layer every time I tried to add a little color effect the color would turn white.

Is the layer opacity turned down correctly? If the opacity has been lowered right, then either the brush dilution is too low or you're pressing a bit too hard. Putting on those highlights requires a fairly gentle touch. :)

Hmmmm. I may sound like an idiot asking this but how do you change the brush dilution?

xD

It's okay! :) If you look underneath your tools panel with all your different brush types in, you know there's the part where the brush size slider and the brush shape dropdown menus are?

If you have Brush or Watercolour selected there should be three bars underneath those other ones, titled "Blending", "Dilution", and "Persistence". If you can't see them, it might be because you have a lot of colour tabs (colour wheel, colour sliders, palette boxes, etc) open. If you close some of those using the little toggle buttons at the top, that should bring the Blending/Dilution/Persistence sliders up into view so you can use them! c:
